{"id":308663,"date":"2025-10-16T18:07:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T18:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/308663\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T18:07:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T18:07:17","slug":"judge-restores-34-million-in-mta-counterterror-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/308663\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge restores $34 million in MTA counterterror funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge said the government illegally stripped the MTA of nearly $34 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/ny-counterterrorism-funding-restored\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">counterterrorism funding<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The money was earmarked for New York under <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.gov\/search-results-detail\/360204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Transit Security Grant Program<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The judge ruled FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security cut the funds because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/doj-sues-nyc-over-sanctuary-city-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">New York is a sanctuary city<\/a>, calling that move improper and unlawful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The law requires grants be based solely on security risk, not politics, the judge said. He ordered the agencies to pay the MTA the full amount.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
