{"id":309342,"date":"2025-10-17T00:09:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T00:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/309342\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T00:09:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T00:09:11","slug":"no-kings-protests-in-fort-worth-arlington-expected-to-draw-thousands-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/309342\/","title":{"rendered":"No Kings protests in Fort Worth, Arlington expected to draw thousands Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crowds in Fort Worth and Arlington will join over 2,500 rallies across the country for a No Kings protest Oct. 18, protesting the perceived authoritarianism of the Trump Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth\u2019s crowd will gather in Burk Burnett Park, and Arlington\u2019s will meet outside the Arlington Sub Courthouse. Both events will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In June, police estimated about <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/06\/14\/protesters-in-downtown-fort-worth-declare-u-s-has-no-kings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2,000 people attended the protest<\/a> in Fort Worth, and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/06\/14\/no-kings-protest-draws-well-over-1000-to-subcourthouse-in-arlington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">over 1,000 people<\/a> attended Arlington\u2019s. Both stayed peaceful. Organizers are coordinating with the police department to avoid potential violence, said Sabrina Ball, an organizer for the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several progressive activist groups are organizing the Fort Worth protest, including Indivisible TX-12, which Ball, a house district coordinator for the Tarrant County Democratic Party, helped form in January after President Donald Trump\u2019s inauguration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/indivisible.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Indivisible<\/a> is a nationwide network of progressive activist groups that started following Trump\u2019s 2016 election to mobilize action against the administration and the Republican Party. The organization is a primary planner of the No Kings protests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>June\u2019s No Kings Day was the largest single-day protest mobilization since Trump\u2019s inauguration, according to Harvard University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ash.harvard.edu\/programs\/crowd-counting-consortium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crowd Counting Consortium,<\/a> and Ball expects Saturday\u2019s to be larger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTarrant County is the seat of Christian nationalism in Texas,\u201d Ball said. It is the biggest swing county. We flip Tarrant, we flip Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, a Republican, told the Report on Thursday that it\u2019s everyone\u2019s right to protest anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m always so proud of Fort Worth PD, they do such a great job preparing, making sure everybody feels safe and welcome,\u201d Parker said. \u201cI think you\u2019re going to see a smooth event on Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ball said police were \u201calready monitoring chatter.\u201d In June, they were on rooftops, in parking garages and wearing plain clothes in the crowd.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Greg Abbott said in a Thursday press release he\u2019ll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/10\/16\/texas-greg-abbott-national-guard-no-kings-protest-austin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deploy Texas National Guard troops<\/a> to the No Kings protest in Austin because of a \u201cplanned antifa-linked demonstration.\u201d Abbott\u2019s statement didn\u2019t specify the connection between the planned protests and antifa, nor comment on whether other Texas cities could see National Guard presence.<\/p>\n<p>Drew Shaw is a government accountability reporter for the Fort Worth Report.
