PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Phoenix Police released on Thursday bodycam videos that show a shooting involving its officers that occurred earlier this month.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, October 2, officers were called to a reported armed robbery attempt at a fast food restaurant near 16th Street and Buckeye Road.<\/a><\/p>\n Phoenix Police say two 911 calls were made regarding the robbery attempt, with one being from the manager of the restaurant. <\/p>\n The manager said the man was attempting to steal a bike from a woman and was \u201cacting weird.\u201d <\/p>\n In the call to dispatch, the caller said, \u201cLeave the woman alone!\u201d <\/p>\n A second 911 call came from a family member of an employee in the restaurant who told dispatch that the man had a gun. <\/p>\n Dispatchers told responding officers that the man was threatening customers and employees inside and that they were unable to get out. <\/p>\n Warning: Viewer discretion is advised. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n As officers arrived, they saw a man outside the restaurant who matched the description given and commanded him to get on the ground. <\/p>\n While initially following the commands of the officers, the man abruptly got to his feet and attempted to open the restaurant door. <\/p>\n As he attempted to open the door, the recording officer fired multiple times. <\/p>\n Phoenix Police say the man was unarmed and was later transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n No one else was injured in the shooting. <\/p>\n The officer involved in this incident is assigned to the Downtown Operations Unit and has been with the department for over 4 years. <\/p>\n An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.<\/p>\n See a spelling or grammatical error in our story?
