Thomas, listed at 6-foot-7, 190 pounds, is a consensus top-100 prospect and one of the Southeast’s most coveted two-way wings.

4⭐️ Kevin Thomas is down to four schools, he tells @Rivals:

Miami, Auburn, LSU and Florida State

The 6-7 small forward is a top-80 recruit in the 2026 class. https://t.co/Rt7kCHAboD pic.twitter.com/F6Fykpttdl

— Joe Tipton (@TiptonEdits) October 10, 2025

247Sports’ scouting report describes Thomas as a “dynamic transition finisher” who “rises with force,” noting strides as a spot shooter to the arc and outlining next-step refinements in shot balance and consistency.

The decision comes after a busy late-summer/early-fall stretch that elevated Thomas’ national status. On3 ranks him a four-star and has tracked interest from multiple high-majors; 247Sports currently slots him No. 72 overall in the 2026 cycle. With three in-region options alongside Miami, the Hurricanes’ case rests on development, fit and a pathway to minutes on the wing.

Jai Lucas was hired in the offseason and completely remade the Miami Hurricanes basketball team with an all-new roster. There are 13 new players on the team and the Hurricanes look to be much improved after their disaster season in 2024-25. Still, no matter how this season plays out, Lucas is a fine recruiter, known for his previous work at stops such as Duke where he was a part of bringing in future No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the Boozer twins.

Thomas will reveal his choice Friday (Oct. 17) at 3:30 p.m. ET on the CBS Sports College Basketball channel. For Miami, landing Thomas would add a top-100, multi-positional defender/finisher to the 2026 board and continue the program’s recent run of recruiting nationally for athletic wings. If he opts elsewhere, the Hurricanes remain firmly involved with other high-end 2026 perimeter targets and can pivot with a full winter and spring evaluation window ahead.

Montverde Academy (Fla.) wing Kevin Thomas, a four-star small forward in the 2026 class, has trimmed his recruitment…

[44
1339,1317,1337,1338,62,67,132,68
0":"post-310253","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-ncaa","10":"tag-ncaa-basketball","11":"tag-ncaabasketball","12":"tag-sports","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-unitedstates","15":"tag-us
["GET
