{"id":310382,"date":"2025-10-17T09:33:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T09:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/310382\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T09:33:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T09:33:16","slug":"new-wnba-team-makes-embarrassing-start-by-accidentally-leaking-head-coach-on-linkedin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/310382\/","title":{"rendered":"New WNBA team makes embarrassing start by accidentally leaking head coach on LinkedIn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"author-section byline-plain\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/profile-146\/jake-nisse.html\" class=\"author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JAKE NISSE, US SPORTS WRITER<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  17:12 EDT, 16 October 2025   |  Updated:  17:14 EDT, 16 October 2025   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/portland\/index.html\" id=\"mol-b15af3a0-aad1-11f0-868f-8388848a14ca\" rel=\"noopener\">Portland<\/a> Fire have yet to officially announce their head coach, though they slipped up this week when they accidentally leaked his name on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The Fire, a <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/wnba\/index.html\" id=\"mol-b165f020-aad1-11f0-868f-8388848a14ca\" rel=\"noopener\">WNBA<\/a> expansion team, will begin playing next spring when the 2025-26 season begins in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But they&#8217;ve seemingly settled on a head coach already, as they mistakenly posted on LinkedIn that they were hiring <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/cleveland-cavaliers\/index.html\" id=\"mol-b15ffcb0-aad1-11f0-868f-8388848a14ca\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> assistant Alex Sarama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The post, which was reportedly shared on the franchise&#8217;s official LinkedIn account on Tuesday, was quickly deleted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Nonetheless, sources told <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/frontofficesports.com\/portland-fire-coach-linkedin-nba\/\">Front Office Sports<\/a>\u00a0that while Sarama&#8217;s contract has not yet been finalized, he is expected to be named the team&#8217;s head coach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The team&#8217;s name was also revealed in June &#8211; also named the Fire &#8211; compete from 2000 to 2002.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Along with fellow expansion franchise the Toronto Tempo, the Fire will bring the WNBA to 15 total teams next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Sarama has extensive basketball experience in the men&#8217;s game, as he&#8217;s worked as a director of methodology for the London Lions, according to his own LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">He then moved on to be an assistant coach and director of player development with the Rip City Remix &#8211;
