The daughter of <\/a>former longtime New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney<\/a> declared victory Tuesday in seizing the Democratic nomination for an Upper East Side City Council seat.<\/p>\n

Princeton-educated Virginia Maloney, 37, who has worked for Meta, won the party\u2019s primary race over former teacher Vanessa Aronson and four other prominent Manhattan Democrats, all but assuring her victory in the Dem-saturated city\u2019s general election in November.<\/p>\n

Maloney took home the gold in the fifth round of the city\u2019s ranked choice voting \u2014 in which she received 53.2% of the final vote, while Aronson took 46.8%.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an incredible honor to win this primary and to have the opportunity to fight for my
community in the City Council district where I was born and raised,\u201d Maloney said in a press release.<\/p>\n

Maloney\u2019s campaign notably received outside support from PACs backed by Trump donor Bill Ackman and DoorDash, which also supported former Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s doomed bid for the Dem mayoral nomination.<\/p>\n

Politics run in the Upper East Sider\u2019s family \u2014 Her mother, Carolyn, now 78, served New York\u2019s 12th and 14th congressional districts for 30 years and served herself as a council member for 10.<\/p>\n

The former congresswoman proudly told The Post that Virginia was the first baby born ever to a sitting city councilwoman.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow she\u2019s going to the City Council. She\u2019s so hard-working and dedicated and has a big heart,\u201d Maloney said of her daughter. <\/p>\n

\u201cNow she\u2019s my councilwoman. She\u2019s going to work for me!,\u201d she said jokingly.<\/p>\n

The former congresswoman said the family and campaign volunteers would be celebrating Virginia\u2019s big win with an ice cream social at the mom\u2019s apartment.<\/p>\n
