{"id":310617,"date":"2025-10-17T11:41:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/310617\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T11:41:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:41:12","slug":"dallas-developer-buys-2-million-square-foot-industrial-complex-in-cedars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/310617\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas developer buys 2 million square foot industrial complex in Cedars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The driving force behind some of the city\u2019s most successful development projects now owns a nearly 2 million square foot industrial complex, just south of downtown Dallas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2023\/09\/13\/what-to-know-about-jack-matthews-the-man-steering-the-dallas-convention-center-rebuild\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2023\/09\/13\/what-to-know-about-jack-matthews-the-man-steering-the-dallas-convention-center-rebuild\/\">Jack Matthews <\/a>and his real estate firm Matthews purchased the former Sears Roebuck distribution center at 1600 Roe Street \u2014 a nearly 39 acre site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">David Davidson Jr. and Jake Milner of Davidson Bogel Real Estate brokered the transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Plans for the property have not yet been determined, though Matthews indicated the site will have multiple uses. It later became the Cedars Commerce Center, and the the property was most recently occupied by LBA Logistics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The project is Matthews\u2019 latest in three-decades worth of investments in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/cedars\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/cedars\/\"> Cedars<\/a> neighborhood. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve created a destination that draws nearly 1.8 million visitors annually to the Cedars,\u201d Matthews said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">We believe that with the right plan, this can be a flagship property that will more than double commercial activity in the area \u2014 a fully mixed-use property that all of Dallas can enjoy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Other projects in the neighborhood feature the Southside development that includes the preservation of the landmark Sears Roebuck buildings, construction of residential units, and development of the Canvas South Side hotel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">He also donated land in the area to the city for a new police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Beyond the Cedars, Matthews\u2019 Inspire Dallas was hired to oversee the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/10\/16\/could-37b-convention-center-redevelopment-clear-site-for-new-mavs-arena\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/10\/16\/could-37b-convention-center-redevelopment-clear-site-for-new-mavs-arena\/\">$3.7 billion convention center redevelopment<\/a>.
