It will be used to put up film on players that will likely end up in the NCAA transfer portal at the end of the season.

Sanders wanted to make a true game day feel to the scrimmage, even bringing in some of the cheerleading squad to cheer on the sidelines. Coach Prime said that it included a full stretch and warmup before beginning the opening kickoff.

Coach Prime hosted a Transfer Portal Scrimmage for some
Colorado players.

Players who haven’t played & plan to enter the portal got to scrimmage.

The players will receive their film cut up to study and share with other schools. pic.twitter.com/c6PbjYKyM0

— Grant Speaks (@GrantSpeaks1) October 16, 2025

“A lot of you guys that don’t get to play, you’re going to get your chance today,” Sanders said. “This is your chance because I’m not crazy enough to think that all of you are going to be in this room next year. It was good for the No. 24 overall transfer portal class in the country this past cycle.

This also helps out the younger generation of Buffs. Sanders added 14 true freshmen to his roster in his 2025 recruiting class. The ones who don’t see the field also earned the opportunity to showcase their skills.

For the key members of Colorado’s roster who didn’t play in the scrimmage, they underwent practice as normal before attending the scrimmage to cheer on their teammates. The Buffs’ focus is on this Saturday’s road trip to No. 23 Utah.

Colorado has an opportunity to improve their record to .500 with a victory over the ranked Utes on the road. However, that’s easier said than done. Kickoff is slated for 10:15 p.m. ET live on ESPN.

Deion Sanders recently hosted a scrimmage for Colorado players that don’t get their share of playing time.
