(File photo by Chris Stone\/Times of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>A 53-year-old man riding an electric scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash on the south side of Balboa Park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiego.gov\/police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Diego police<\/a> officers responded to 1200 Pershing Drive at approximately 5:49 p.m. Thursday, after for unknown reasons, the victim made a movement to the right and exited the roadway. <\/p>\n<p>His scooter hit a patch of dirt, where the man lost control and fell to the ground,\u00a0 Officer Jose Perales said.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0victim sustained a brain bleed, fractured cheek, fractured ribs, a fractured clavicle, a scapular fracture, according to Perales.<\/p>\n<p>The department\u2019s Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
