Here\u2019s what Arlington voters need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s time for Arlington to go to the polls.<\/p>\n<p>Arlington voters can weigh in on state constitutional amendments.<\/p>\n<p>Viridian residents will consider more than $100 million in bonds for their master-planned community and a 3-cent tax increase from Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD during the 2025 election Nov. 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what\u2019s on the ballot and what you need to know as early voting kicks off.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Early voting begins Oct. 20 and ends Oct. 31. Arlington will have six early voting locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To see a sample of your ballot and to check your voter registration status, click <a href=\"https:\/\/gisit.tarrantcounty.com\/TCVL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Early voting times:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 20-24<\/li>\n<li>9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 25<\/li>\n<li>10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 26<\/li>\n<li>7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 27-31<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Election Day, 36 voting locations will open in Arlington. Registered voters can vote at any of these locations 7 a.m.-7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of Election Day voting locations is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2025\/1125\/locations\/1125_Vote_Center_Locations.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Viridian bond election<\/p>\n<p>Residents of the Viridian Municipal Management District will have two extra propositions on the Nov. 4 ballot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first proposition on the ballot is to authorize the issuance of over $50 million in bonds for water, sanitary sewer and drainage, and storm sewer systems in Viridian.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The second is to authorize the issuance of over $57 million in bonds for roads in Viridian.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the district raised its property tax rate from 44.81 cents to 51.52 cents per $100 valuation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During a Sept. 9 meeting, Viridian board member Denise Clifton said raising the tax rate would help fund needed renovations to maintain residents\u2019 high standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThings are getting older, and things are going to start breaking and cracking,\u201d Clifton said. \u201cWe certainly need the finances and wherewithal to pay for those.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Viridian residents will also consider a tax rate increase of 3 cents from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district.<\/p>\n<p>State propositions and Senate District 9<\/p>\n<p>All ballots will feature 17 state constitutional amendments, ranging from homestead tax exemptions to funding for dementia research. For a more detailed look at each amendment, click <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/17\/17-statewide-propositions-are-on-the-november-ballot-heres-what-texas-voters-need-to-know\/#2261f891-0086-448c-a517-fb9e708d8dd7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some Arlington residents will be able to vote in the Texas Senate District 9 election after Kelly Hancock left the seat to work as the acting state comptroller.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans John Huffman and Leigh Wambsganss and Democrat Taylor Rehmet are vying for the seat. A candidate must secure more than 50% of the vote to win the seat outright; otherwise, the top two vote-getters head to a Dec. 13 runoff election.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Moss is a reporting fellow for the Arlington Report.
