{"id":312318,"date":"2025-10-18T02:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T02:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/312318\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T02:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T02:51:10","slug":"measles-exposure-confirmed-at-at-seattle-airport-amid-national-significant-resurgence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/312318\/","title":{"rendered":"Measles exposure confirmed at at Seattle airport amid national &#8216;significant resurgence&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEATTLE \u2014 A new confirmed measles case in a traveler who passed through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Monday is not connected to any previous local measles cases, <a href=\"https:\/\/doh.wa.gov\/you-and-your-family\/illness-and-disease-z\/measles\/measles-cases-washington-state-2025\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/doh.wa.gov\/you-and-your-family\/illness-and-disease-z\/measles\/measles-cases-washington-state-2025\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">Public Health  Seattle &amp; King County officials said Friday. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The infected person was at the airport before getting a diagnosis, was unvaccinated, and is a resident of Arizona, an area with an active measles outbreak, health officials confirmed. <\/p>\n<p>The virus can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves, according to King County health officials. <\/p>\n<p>Those exposed at the airport on Oct. 13 may develop symptoms between Oct. 20 and Nov. 3  , health officials said. <\/p>\n<p>There have now been 12 cases of measles statewide this year, according to Public Health \u2013 Seattle &amp; King County.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/measles-virus-king-county-rash-vaccine-seattle-public-health-mumps-rubella-booster-bellevue-fire-station-childrens-hospital#\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/measles-virus-king-county-rash-vaccine-seattle-public-health-mumps-rubella-booster-bellevue-fire-station-childrens-hospital#\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">2 more confirmed measles cases reported in King County <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The county has responded to three other measles cases this year among people who traveled through King County but are not Washington state residents, officials said. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sandra J. Valenciano, Health Officer for Public Health \u2013 Seattle &amp; King County, highlighted a national resurgence: &#8220;In the U.S., we are experiencing a significant measles resurgence.
