Here\u2019s where, when to vote in Tarrant County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The future of Texas\u2019 taxes and infrastructure is in the hands of voters as polling locations open for the Nov. 4 election.<\/p>\n<p>Early voting is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2025\/1125\/locations\/1125_EV_Sched.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oct. 20-31<\/a> at the following times:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 20-24<\/li>\n<li>9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 25\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 26\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 27-31<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tarrant County residents can find their registration status and sample ballots on the <a href=\"https:\/\/gisit.tarrantcounty.com\/TCVL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voter lookup page<\/a>, and can find early voting locations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2025\/1125\/locations\/1125_EV_Sched.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. Local races can be found on the League of Women Voters of Tarrant County\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lwvtarrantcounty.org\/content.aspx?page_id=22&amp;club_id=991014&amp;module_id=477128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voting guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/17\/17-statewide-propositions-are-on-the-november-ballot-heres-what-texas-voters-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">will weigh 17 constitutional amendments<\/a>, including raising the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/06\/about-4000-tarrant-county-properties-to-lose-homestead-exemption-tad-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">homestead exemption<\/a>, significantly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/06\/04\/texas-legislature-property-tax-cuts-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">increasing business tax exemptions<\/a>, creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/05\/27\/texas-water-supply-infrastructure-deal-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">water infrastructure fund<\/a> and funding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/04\/28\/texas-dementia-research-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dementia research and prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Voters can learn about the amendments at a Constitutional Amendment Forum on Oct. 22 at Trinity Terrace, presented in part by the Fort Worth Report.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents of <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/18\/2-southlake-republicans-a-fort-worth-democrat-race-to-win-texas-senate-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Texas\u2019 Senate District 9<\/a>, which covers most of Tarrant County, will cast ballots in a special election for a new state senator. Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/directory\/kelly-hancock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kelly Hancock<\/a> resigned from the seat earlier this month to become the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/06\/19\/kelly-handcock-texas-comptroller-glenn-hegar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acting state comptroller<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One Democratic and two Republican candidates are running to fill the seat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In August, Tarrant County commissioners reduced the number of early voting locations for the election, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/08\/19\/tarrant-county-commissioners-cut-100-plus-polling-sites-reduce-early-voting-locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">despite pushback from residents<\/a> who argued the move amounted to voter suppression. Commissioners also cut more than 100 voting day locations, arguing the cuts were to save money.<\/p>\n<p>In order to cast a ballot, voters must present one of seven valid photo IDs:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety<\/li>\n<li>Texas election identification certificate issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>Texas personal identification card issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>Texas handgun license issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>U.S. military identification card containing the person\u2019s photograph<\/li>\n<li>U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person\u2019s photograph<\/li>\n<li>U.S. passport (book or card)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a voter doesn\u2019t have an acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, they must fill out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.tx.us\/elections\/forms\/pol-sub\/reasonable-impediment-declaration.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reasonable impediment declaration form<\/a> and present one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copy or original of a government document that shows the voter\u2019s name and an address, including the voter\u2019s voter registration certificate<\/li>\n<li>Copy of or original current utility bill<\/li>\n<li>Copy of or original bank statement<\/li>\n<li>Copy of or original government check<\/li>\n<li>Copy of or original paycheck<\/li>\n<li>Copy of or original of a certified U.S. birth certificate or a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter\u2019s identity, which may include a foreign birth document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Texas constitution is long and highly specific, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lrl.texas.gov\/legis\/constamends\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Texas Reference Library<\/a>. It requires voter-approved amendments for initiatives like state programs, tax relief and funds. As of last year, 711 amendments had gone to voters, 530 of which were adopted and 181 were voted down.<\/p>\n<p>If the constitutional amendments are approved, they could only be undone through a new constitutional amendment. Constitutional amendments are the only ballot propositions Texans get to vote on at the state level and will appear at the top of voters\u2019 ballots, above any local races.<\/p>\n<p>Drew Shaw is a government accountability reporter for the Fort Worth Report.
