{"id":312552,"date":"2025-10-18T04:54:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T04:54:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/312552\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T04:54:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T04:54:18","slug":"the-giants-vikings-offers-patriots-turned-down-for-drake-maye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/312552\/","title":{"rendered":"The Giants, Vikings offers Patriots turned down for Drake Maye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Patriots had to fend off some massive trade offers before drafting Drake Maye.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aKW1IbjkSug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">98.5 The Sports Hub<\/a>, Sports Illustrated\u2019s Albert Breer said a pair of teams came calling with a long list of draft capital in an attempt to take the North Carolina product No. 3 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the Vikings offered them the 11th pick, the 23rd pick, a 2025 first-round pick,\u201d Breer said during the radio hit. \u201cSo they were offered three first-round picks and then pick swaps later on. And then the Giants offered their first-round pick, which was sixth. So they would only have to move down three spots. Then their 2025 first-round pick. AP<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots, of course, held on to the pick to take Maye, giving them what they hoped at the time to be a franchise quarterback after the Mac Jones experiment went sideways.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were big offers,\u201d Breer continued. \u201cThe Patriots had a lot of holes, and I think when you looked at it, there were people saying maybe they should trade down and fill multiple holes. \u2026They didn\u2019t move off their spot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The decision appears to have paid off for New England.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maye has been one of the breakout stars of the 2025 season, throwing for 1,522 yards with 10 touchdown passes and just two interceptions through six games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37414067\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2150217556.jpg\" alt=\"Drake Maye (left) and Roger Goodell (right) holding up a New England Patriots jersey with Maye's name and number 1 on it at the NFL Draft.\" class=\"wp-image-37414067\"  \/> Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>He also has 138 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots are off to their best start since the Tom Brady era, sitting at 4-2 heading into this weekend\u2019s contest against the Titans in Tennessee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After failing to trade up for Maye, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/04\/25\/sports\/vikings-take-j-j-mccarthy-with-no-10-pick-in-2024-nfl-draft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vikings moved up a spot to take Michigan quarterback J.J.
