NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and the Navarro Group invite you to the 6th annual Dallas D\u00eda de los Muertos Parade and Festival at Dallas City Hall in downtown Dallas on October 25. The festival starts at 4 PM and the parade kicks off at 7 PM.<\/p>\n
The parade and festival are entering their sixth year of production. You can expect live music, food concessions, fun arts and crafts, a beautiful parade, and much more! Expect members of the parade in their best pageantry and culturally authentic costumes that make for a visually stunning evening. The parade will start and end at Dallas City Hall.<\/p>\n
D\u00eda de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead as it is known in English, is a holiday that celebrates and honors those that have passed. The holiday stems from the belief that the souls of our loved ones live on even after death. On the holiday, celebrated on November 1 \u2013 2, families come together and make altars decorated with yellow marigolds, cempaz\u00fachitl, and calaveras, or small skulls. The altars are also filled with photographs, mementos, and ofrendas, or offerings, like food that their loved ones would have enjoyed during their lifetime. The festivities are also taken to the graveyard where people will visit their loved one\u2019s graves and commemorate them. The \u201cCatrina\u201d and \u201cCatr\u00edn\u201d have become popular icons of the holiday, and many will dress up like them and wear skeletal makeup to celebrate life and death.<\/p>\n
