Georgina Chapman, the Marchesa founder and ex-wife of Harvey Weinstein, seems to be having money problems.\u00a0As The Real Deal reported<\/a>, Chapman is facing a foreclosure lawsuit on her West Village two-bedroom at 99 Jane Street. Chapman bought the apartment in 2009 for $1.7 million in an all-cash deal but has re-mortgaged it twice in the years since with her brother, Edward Chapman, who is also the CEO of Marchesa. According to the foreclosure complaint, the pair allegedly defaulted on the mortgage last November and now owe the original $2.5 million loan plus interest and late fees.<\/p>\n

The condo board also sued Chapman and her brother for more than\u00a0$7,000 in unpaid common charges. But it\u2019s not just the apartment \u2014\u00a0Chapman is being sued by GFP Real Estate for $1.4 million in back rent for Marchesa\u2019s lease at 80 Eighth Avenue. The company seems to have been floundering for a while now \u2014\u00a0Puck reported<\/a> back in March that Marchesa was mired in complaints from customers who hadn\u2019t gotten refunds for returned items. (\u201cI have emailed them and called more than a dozen times with NO RESPONSE!\u201d one such customer wrote<\/a> on the company\u2019s Better Business Bureau profile.)<\/p>\n

Chapman and Weinstein finalized their divorce in 2021 after Weinstein was convicted of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual assault and sentenced to 23 years in prison. (Chapman has been dating Adrien Brody since 2020.) Chapman was reported<\/a> to have received an estimated $15 to $20 million in a confidential divorce settlement, but it\u2019s unclear where all that money is right now.<\/p>\n
