Entering the race weekend at Talladega, Joey Logano is in a precarious position. He is 7th in points and -24 to the cutline. If Logano wants to make the Championship 4<\/a>, a win is the easy way out. Otherwise, he has a backup plan to hopefully point his way into Phoenix. <\/p>\n

At this point, making it on points is going to be very difficult. The drivers remaining are the best of the best. So, you have to hope for mistakes and issues like on pit road. Still, Joey Logano doesn\u2019t believe his hopes of pointing in to Phoenix are over yet. <\/p>\n

The wildcard that is Talladega is enough to make it possible. All it takes is one big wreck to wipe out half the playoff field, and then whoever survives is looking pretty. <\/p>\n

Speaking to the media today, Logano addressed his points situation<\/a>. He also laid out his plan for making it to Phoenix even if he doesn\u2019t win one of these next two races. <\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I don\u2019t see why you wouldn\u2019t go for the points,\u201d Joey Logano responded. \u201cWe gotta go for the points in our position. There might be some cars that don\u2019t need to go for the points, or they\u2019re in different positions. You know, you kinda gotta know what your competitors\u2019 goals are when you get to the race track. especially here. But yeah, for us, we need to get the points, it\u2019s pretty obvious. <\/p>\n

\u201cI can talk about that. It\u2019s pretty obvious we need to get the stage points. In my mind, I think we\u2019ve gotta top-five every stage and top-five both races. You know, so four stages and two races to have a chance to point in. That\u2019s my opinion. I don\u2019t know what math backs that up, it\u2019s just kinda what I think in my mind we have to do to point our way in. Which is possible, very possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joey Logano finds a way to survive. In races where he struggles, he finds a way to force a top-10 finish. Even in races where his finishes aren\u2019t so great, Paul Wolfe finds a way to get the 22 into position for stage points. There are so many little ways this team uses the rules and strategy to their advantage. <\/p>\n

If Logano can\u2019t win a race to make it to Phoenix, can he overcome his points deficit? It would be a major task to overcome 24 points in two races among this group of drivers. But the 22 team at least has a plan it seems to make it happen.
