\u201cBlack Phone 2\u201d was all the buzz at the box office this Friday, taking first place with $10.78 million in earnings for its opener, according to The Numbers<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The supernatural thriller, which The Hollywood Reporter called<\/a> an \u201ceffective horror sequel\u201d to its 2021 predecessor, stars Ethan Hawke reprising his role as a masked serial killer.<\/p>\n

It cost $30 million to make and is expected to rake in a three-day total of\u00a0$24.4 million, as per Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In second place was \u201cTron: Ares,\u201d the third film in the\u00a0Tron\u00a0series\u00a0and a\u00a0sequel\u00a0to 2010\u2019s\u00a0\u201cTron: Legacy,\u201d with a $3 million haul.<\/p>\n

The Post called it<\/a> \u201cthe first\u00a0\u2018Tron\u2019 film\u00a0with a discernible plot, which \u201cbrings a welcome pulse of clarity and humanity to a franchise that heretofore has picked hard drives over heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGood Fortune,\u201d Aziz Ansari\u2019s feature directorial debut, landed in third, scoring $2.4 million in revenue.<\/p>\n

Time Magazine said<\/a> \u201cit\u2019s silly and funny, and you never feel you\u2019re trapped in a civics lecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ansari explained the premise of the film to The Gate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLA is a city where those two guys could be right next to each other in the same coffee shop, and how do you tell that story about their worlds colliding?\u201d<\/p>\n

In fourth was \u201cTruth & Treason\u201d \u2014 the drama based on the true story of 17-year-old Helmuth H\u00fcbener, who was executed because he opposed the\u00a0Nazi regime during\u00a0WWII \u2014 with sales of over $1.15 million.<\/p>\n
