See the map"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who wants to try a new restaurant? <\/p>\n<p>In San Diego\u2019s neighborhoods, you can ask yourself that question more than a few times a month, any month. <\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/data.sandiego.gov\/datasets\/business-listings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">city data<\/a>, at least a few new businesses open every month with a business tax certificate identifying them as a restaurant. Since 2021, most months have seen more than a handful of new restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>(Note, these numbers show just the businesses licensed as full- or limited-service restaurants. Other businesses like snack bars, drinking establishments and mobile food services push the numbers higher.) <\/p>\n<p>For the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofsandiego.com\/data\/2025\/05\/19\/neighborhood-city-services-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uptown News area<\/a>, here\u2019s the trend over the past four years: <\/p>\n<p>So what parts of town see the most new restaurants? <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-light-gray-background-color has-background\"><strong>Uptown dining:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofsandiego.com\/life\/2025\/06\/04\/dining-entrepreneur-passes-hob-nob-hill-reopens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A North Park food entrepreneur passes, an 82-year-old restaurant reopens, and more<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Where are new restaurants in San Diego?<\/p>\n<p>Check out more details in our citywide map.
