More than a dozen people accused of drug-related charges were arrested Friday at the Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood, according to law enforcement.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department executed an undercover operation in response to community members\u2019 complaints about pickpocketing, drug sales and criminal activity at the famed bar, it said. Thirteen people, included staff and patrons, were arrested as a result.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is unfortunate, we do have a lot of issues and drugs in West Hollywood,\u201d said Ian Park, a community member. \u201cI, myself, am in recovery, and I don\u2019t think it\u2019s ever going away, but it\u2019s nice to have some awareness about the issues and drugs here.\u201d<\/p>\n
LASD said it\u2019s conducted similar operations in the city in the past. Some residents said they weren\u2019t surprised to hear about the arrests.<\/p>\n
\u201cSadly, that\u2019s been going on in West Hollywood and other cities for as long as I can remember, so I don\u2019t think the Abbey is specifically at fault,\u201d said James Lemma.<\/p>\n
Some people were in panic during the bust because they mistook it for an immigration operation. LASD confirmed its execution did not involve federal agents.<\/p>\n
The case is now under investigation by the LASD narcotics division.
