Angel Reese<\/a> is getting real about her experiences with media so far in her WNBA career.<\/a><\/p>\n

Reese just ended her second season with the Chicago Sky<\/a> after being the No. 7 overall draft pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her latest podcast episode, she was joined by sports journalist Taylor Rooks where she talked about her difficult relationship with the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven before the game, I\u2019m terrified of what the media is about to ask,\u201d Reese told Rooks on Thursday, Oct. 16 episode of her Unapologetically Angel podcast. \u201cIt could be the nicest question, but it\u2019s going to get flipped or put into a different light or a different perspective. It\u2019s like, are you here intentionally to start mess or are you intentionally here to ask a question?\u201d<\/p>\n

After she revealed that the media sometimes doesn\u2019t have the best intentions, she explained that she rather just pay not to answer their questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really tough for me, especially in the media,\u201d Reese continued.\u201d It\u2019s like, I don\u2019t want to do an interview with anybody. I get excited for certain people, like a Taylor [Rooks]. Certain people I know I can talk to, but I\u2019ll take the fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not that Reese gets bothered by most questions, it\u2019s that she believes her responses are taken out of context which has stopped her from being a guest on other platforms outside of broadcast media.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeriously, I\u2019d rather take the fine sometimes rather than talking to the media because it always gets flipped,\u201d Reese said, adding, \u201cFor me, the media is really scary. That\u2019s why I have never been on anybody else\u2019s podcast. I\u2019m scared to do stuff like that because I know how things could get flipped.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip got several comments from fans with one of them suggesting that she ignore questions<\/a> where her answer could be taken out of context.<\/p>\n

\u201cEasy \u2018that\u2019s not basketball, next question ?\u2019 And calmly continue until you get a basketball related question,\u201d the fan wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Another fan showed empathy<\/a> towards her issue, \u201cThat is such a shame . I don\u2019t blame her, I\u2019d take the fine too . Should not be this way !!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

This season, Reese was suspended<\/a> for the first half of the Sky\u2019s game against the Las Vegas Aces after the comments she made to the Chicago Tribune. She told the newspaper that she is \u201cnot settling for the same s\u2014 we did this year,\u201d adding that the team \u201c[has] to get great players\u201d this offseason or she is considering not returning.<\/p>\n
