JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Blue Angels\u2019 planned performance at next weekend\u2019s Sea and Sky Air Show could be in jeopardy if the federal government doesn\u2019t reopen soon, but city officials aren\u2019t hitting the panic button just yet.<\/p>\n
Every other year, the Blue Angels cut through the skies above the heads of thousands of onlookers on Jacksonville Beach.<\/p>\n
But this biannual performance is shrouded in a cloud of uncertainty.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a lot of fun,\u201d said Tom Bingaman, who is planning on attending next weekend\u2019s air show.<\/p>\n \u201cNow we get a chance to see them, but now the government is like, oh, you know, we take care of this, but we don\u2019t care about that. And I think that\u2019s a shame,\u201d said Blue Angels fan Maichael Jennings.<\/p>\n This weekend\u2019s Blue Angels performance in Georgia was canceled due to the shutdown, and so too was last weekend\u2019s performance in San Francisco. <\/p>\n But all hope isn\u2019t necessarily lost.<\/p>\n According to the Blue Angels, the show is still technically cleared for takeoff.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cIf something changes with any of the planned military performers, we have an elite lineup of civilian acts scheduled to perform,\u201d the mayor\u2019s office told Action News Jax in an emailed statement.<\/p>\n Action News Jax reached out to Tom Larkin, a pilot who flies with Mini Jet Air Shows, which is scheduled to perform next weekend, and asked him what he thought about the potential cancellation of the Blues.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve lived long enough to see many of these cycles. I know the show will go on regardless of these issues. I\u2019ll be there to perform and help in any way I can to make it a success,\u201d said Larkin.<\/p>\n Councilmember Rory Diamond (R-District 13), who represents the beaches, said he\u2019s holding out hope lawmakers in DC come to an agreement early next week.<\/p>\n \u201cKids come out. It\u2019s a great thing for the beaches.
