It looks like the feud rumors between Hailey Bieber<\/a> and Selena Gomez aren\u2019t going anywhere. Last week, the Rhode founder was interviewed for The Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u2019s cover story about her brand\u2019s $1 billion acquisition and entrance into Sephora<\/a>, and apparently, fans seem to think she was taking a dig at Gomez. Is it just me, or do you also have d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu<\/a>?<\/p>\n During the interview, Bieber was asked if she felt worried about being compared to Gomez\u2019s Rare Beauty. Although she declined to respond, she later appeared to allude to the question. \u201cIt\u2019s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn\u2019t ask for that,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen people want to see you a certain way and they\u2019ve made up a story about you in their minds, it\u2019s not up to you to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n Bieber was then asked if she felt competitive of the hundreds of other brands in Sephora stores. \u201cI think there is space for everybody,\u201d she said, adding that she\u2019s most competitive with herself. \u201cI don\u2019t feel competitive with people that I\u2019m not inspired by,\u201d Bieber said. This caused some fans to raise their eyebrows at the founder, but sources \u201cconnected\u201d to Bieber told TMZ<\/a> that she was not shading Gomez, adding, \u201cWhat she said was in reference to other skincare brands \u2014 not a particular person.\u201d<\/p>\n Gomez also seemingly responded to Bieber\u2019s comments in a now-deleted Instagram Story, writing, \u201cJust leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants. Doesn\u2019t affect my life whatsoever. It\u2019s just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop,\u201d according to \u201cPage Six.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Well, there you have it. Another case of words being twisted and the internet running free with them.
