{"id":317231,"date":"2025-10-20T00:10:15","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T00:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/317231\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T00:10:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T00:10:15","slug":"nikkei-225-hang-seng-index-china-gdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/317231\/","title":{"rendered":"Nikkei 225, Hang Seng Index, China GDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beijing Central Business District, mix of offices and apartments<\/p>\n<p>Ispyfriend | E+ | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets were set to open mostly higher Monday as investors awaited a slew of economic data coming out of China.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts polled by Reuters expect China&#8217;s economy to have slowed in the third quarter, forecasting gross domestic product to have grown 4.8% in the July-to-September period from a year ago, easing from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/15\/chinas-second-quarter-gdp-growth-slows-to-5point2percent-as-economists-warn-of-mounting-headwinds-ahead.html#:~:text=China&#039;s%20gross%20domestic%20product%20expanded,5.4%25%20in%20the%20first%20quarter.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">5.2% in the previous quarter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikkei 225<\/a> rose 1.6%, while the Topix added 1.43% at the open. <\/p>\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s Kospi added 0.36% after hitting a record high for the third straight day last Friday, while the small-cap Kosdaq climbed 1.13%.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hang Seng Index<\/a> futures were at 25,863, higher than the HSI&#8217;s Friday close of 25,247.1.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> started the day 0.1% lower.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday in the U.S., the three major averages closed higher.<\/p>\n<p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose Friday as traders digested the U.S.\u2032 softening tone on its trade talks with China and tried to move past credit concerns that sparked a big sell-off in regional banks Thursday stateside.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow<\/a>\u00a0finished 238.37 points, or 0.52%, higher at 46,190.61.
