{"id":317996,"date":"2025-10-20T07:21:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T07:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/317996\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T07:21:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T07:21:12","slug":"twitch-faces-backlash-after-popular-streamer-emiru-allegedly-assaulted-by-fan-on-video-at-twitchcon-meet-and-greet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/317996\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitch faces backlash after popular streamer Emiru allegedly assaulted by fan on video at TwitchCon meet and greet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Livestreaming service Twitch is facing backlash after videos captured popular streamer Emiru being assaulted by a rogue fan during a TwitchCon meet and greet.<\/p>\n<p>Video footage <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BaconCrumbz\/status\/1979387279149068577\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">circulated on social media<\/a> of the man storming toward Emiru, whose real name is Emily-Beth Schunk, and attempting to grab her face and kiss her during a meet and greet event on the first day of the streaming platform\u2019s flagship convention in San Diego on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Schunk, 27, visibly recoiled as her personal security guard ran to shove the man away, the clip showed.<\/p>\n<p>Twitch is facing backlash after videos captured popular streamer Emiru being assaulted by a man during a TwitchCon meet and greet. yeet\/X<\/p>\n<p>The popular cosplayer with over two million followers on Twitch blasted the platform\u2019s handling of the alleged assault <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/emiru\/status\/1979602519967060414?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a statement on X. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, the man who assaulted me was allowed to cross multiple barriers at TwitchCon and even in front of another creator\u2019s meet and greet to grab me and my face and try to kiss me,\u201d Schunk wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe security in the clip who reacts is my own security \u2026 However, there were at least 3 or 4 other Twitchcon security staff in the area who did not react and let the guy walk away,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Twitch <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/twitch\/status\/1979464697364779065?s=12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responded in a statement Saturday,<\/a> stating it will boost security measures by adding additional security personnel and has barred attendees from bringing any plus ones to TwitchCon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe immediately blocked this individual from returning to the TwitchCon premises, and they are banned indefinitely from Twitch, both online and in-person events. We are coordinating with the impacted creator\u2019s team and, per our standard protocols, continue to cooperate with any law enforcement investigations,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitch has zero tolerance for harassment or acts that inhibit the safety and security of our community,\u201d the company wrote. <\/p>\n<p>The content creator said she is \u201cobviously shaken up\u201d by the ordeal. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Schunk claimed that the company\u2019s statement was a \u201cblatant lie\u201d and that the assaulter was not immediately caught or detained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was allowed to walk away from my meet and greet, and I didn\u2019t hear he was caught until hours after he attacked me, and it felt like this only happened because of my manager pressing for it, not because Twitchcon staff present thought it was a big deal,\u201d Schunk wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The content creator said she is \u201cobviously shaken up\u201d by the ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>In a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_USuIpVAqAw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> video posted to YouTube<\/a>, she added that her manager contacted police after the incident and plans to press charges against the man.<\/p>\n<p>She also claimed Twitch is planning to suspend the man from the streaming platform for a month before possibly ruling on an indefinite ban.<\/p>\n<p>The San Diego Sheriff\u2019s Office did not respond to a request for comment on additional information about the man or any charges filed against him.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes after several female streamers have voiced concerns over their safety at TwitchCon events.
