{"id":318306,"date":"2025-10-20T10:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T10:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/318306\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T10:19:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T10:19:10","slug":"sombr-addresses-online-drama-after-fan-called-his-show-cringe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/318306\/","title":{"rendered":"Sombr Addresses Online Drama After Fan Called His Show &#8216;Cringe&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/sombr\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sombr\" data-tag=\"sombr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sombr<\/a> has responded to criticism he received from a concertgoer who apparently \u201chated\u201d his show at Anthem in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 13, so much so that she recorded a nearly nine-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/tiktok\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tiktok\" data-tag=\"tiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TikTok<\/a> video, which has since gone viral. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI thought I was chronically online, but it\u2019s just come to my attention that there\u2019s a TikTok drama going around because a 25-year-old attended my concert and was basically complaining that there were too many tweens there, I was making too many brain-rot jokes, and she just thought it was a cringe concert,\u201d Sombr began in his response.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSombr\u2019s response came a few days after the fan posted her video, in which the 25-year-old began by cautioning anyone planning to attend an upcoming show of his to \u201cnot spend your money on a Sombr concert.\u201d She went on to explain that while attending his Washington, D.C. show, she was shocked to find his fanbase was primarily comprised of \u201ctweens,\u201d said she did not enjoy his jokes, and described a segment of the concert called the \u201cSombr Dating Show,\u201d where he brought audience members onstage to call their exes. She also criticized him, claiming he said \u201csuper vulgar stuff about getting his dick sucked\u201d while on stage, and asked his fans to \u201cbark for me\u201d \u2014 behavior she felt was inappropriate given his young audience. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tShe added, \u201cIt just doesn\u2019t seem like he knows how to entertain. He\u2019s maybe too young. Maybe he has to grow into it. I don\u2019t know. Dancing was terrible, singing was terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile she referred to the experience as \u201ca nightmare,\u201d she admitted that the other members of the audience appeared to love it, with one fan apparently saying, \u201cThis is my generation\u2019s David Bowie.\u201d She then said, \u201cI\u2019m so sorry, slender man? We\u2019re picking him, we\u2019re picking the weird dancing dude?\u201d whom she likened to Napoleon Dynamite and added that the show was \u201ccringe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\tEditor\u2019s picks<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn his response, Sombr accused her of \u201cbody shaming\u201d him, saying that \u201cit\u2019s kind of started a massive body shaming hate train directed towards me on a lot of videos of me on the internet right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tHe went on to say, \u201cI totally respect people having opinions, but I am a 20-year-old artist, freshly 20. And if you\u2019re 25 years old and you\u2019re going to come to my concert and not expect people younger than you to be there, when I, the artist, am five years younger than you, it\u2019s just a skill issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs far as his jokes, Sombr said that people who go to his concerts would be familiar with his online presence, adding, \u201cI\u2019ve never uttered a serious word in my life.\u201d Plus, he said he spends \u201cfive minutes\u201d making jokes at his shows, while the rest is music.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cLive a little, enjoy life,\u201d he continued. \u201cEvery age, sex, sexuality, gender, race: Everyone is welcome in my concert, ad I mean everyone. You guys need to find problematic people to hate on, because I am just existing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSombr\u2019s debut album, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/sombrs-i-barely-know-her-review-1235414109\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I Barely Know Her<\/a> \u2014 featuring hits \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sombr-hit-back-to-friends-live-mtv-global-push-artist-1235419880\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Back to Friends<\/a>\u201d and \u201c12 to 12,\u201d both of which he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sombr-mtv-vmas-debut-performance-1235422372\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">performed at the VMAs<\/a> \u2014 arrived in August.
