She and her husband met with their financial planner to determine their priorities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cMy goal was to keep the house that we\u2019re in and retire on time,\u201d according to the date she previously had set with her husband, she said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Her husband\u2019s job at the University of St. Thomas has provided the family with health insurance, while he is also the \u201ccollege savings fund because of tuition reimbursement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Be clear up front, Walter said, about your pay but also what the client needs and what you can do to support that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">\u201cFor a pleaser like me, that has been really important,\u201d Walter said. \u201cIf you don\u2019t lean into that scope of work, and you say, \u2018I just want to make them happy, no matter what,\u2019 you\u2019re not going to be successful as a solo-preneur. You\u2019re going to be just as burned out as you were in corporate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">The fractional market is feeling growing pains typical of a maturing industry, according to this year\u2019s fractional survey. Business development was the primary challenge for 69% of respondents, a 9% increase.
