President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, says she finds it \u201cpretty funny\u201d that some people are \u201cmelting down\u201d at her \u201cjoking offer\u201d to perform at an alternative Super Bowl halftime show. <\/p>\n

The podcaster, who is married to the president\u2019s son, Eric Trump, offered to headline a MAGA-themed halftime show that was announced by Turning Point USA, the right-wing political group founded by slain activist Charlie Kirk<\/a>. Her suggestion was in response to criticism from the right-wing over Latin singer Bad Bunny being selected as next year\u2019s official Super Bowl halftime headliner. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo we just heard something that\u2019s pretty funny. I heard that there are a lot of people out there on the left who are melting down and very upset about the possibility that I might be performing at the halftime show for the Super Bowl for Turning Point USA,\u201d she said in an Instagram video<\/a> Saturday. <\/p>\n

Bad Bunny\u2019s vocal condemnation of Donald Trump\u2019s increasing ICE raids<\/a> and his advocacy for Puerto Rico<\/a> have sparked backlash from some MAGA supporters<\/a>, who also widely bemoaned that the three-time Grammy winner has no songs that are entirely in English. <\/p>\n

The musician clapped back at the outrage<\/a> during his monologue on \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Claiming her initial suggestion was \u201cclearly a comical and joking offer,\u201d Lara Trump doubled down on her proposition, telling her nearly three million Instagram followers that it \u201cstill stands\u201d despite the fact that she was never actually offered the opportunity. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve not been asked in any formal way to perform for the Turning Point halftime show for the Super Bowl,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut everybody out there continues getting upset about it and freaking out about it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\"LaraLara Trump’s offer to perform came after Turning Point USA announced it will host an alternative Super Bowl halftime show sans Bad Bunny. <\/p>\n

Last week, the former co-chair of the Republican National Committee nominated herself to perform<\/a> at the \u201cAll American Halftime Show\u201d that is meant to rival the big-game broadcast on NBC on her \u201cRight View With Lara Trump\u201d<\/a> podcast. She claimed she heard from \u201ca lot of owners of NFL teams\u201d who are heated by the selection of Bad Bunny. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what the heck the NFL was thinking with this one, but I can tell there are a lot of people who are not happy about it,\u201d the political pundit said. \u201cThe great news is we don\u2019t need the NFL. We don\u2019t need any of these woke losers to perform, we can have our own performance, so shoutout to Turning Point for coming up with their own halftime show, I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lara Trump<\/a>, whose most-streamed track on Spotify is a cover<\/a> of the 1989 tune \u201cI Won\u2019t Back Down,\u201d originally performed by late rock musician Tom Petty, has just a measly 13,000 monthly listeners on Spotify compared to Bad Bunny who boasts 81.3M monthly listeners.<\/p>\n

In 2020, her cover of the \u201cI Won\u2019t Back Down\u201d stirred controversy after Petty\u2019s family issued a cease-and-desist order<\/a> to bar Donald Trump from using the song on the campaign trail. Despite that, Lara Trump went on to perform<\/a> the cover at her father-in-law\u2019s golf club in Westchester, New York, earlier this year.<\/p>\n
