But writing them is another matter.<\/p>\n<p>Holly Bebernitz, the author of \u201cThe Magnolia Arms Chronicles,\u201d a six-book series, will explore the process of writing a series at the next meeting of the Ponte Vedra Writers, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.<\/p>\n<p>Bebernitz tells us that a rock and a spelling list awakened a lifelong yearning to write, eventually leading to her series. She\u2019ll share her successes, lessons learned, ways to tap into readers\u2019 preferences and advice in her presentation \u201cWriting a Series: If a Little Bit\u2019s Good, a Lot\u2019s Better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After 30 years of teaching speech, English and history on the secondary and college levels, Bebernitz retired from classroom instruction to become a full-time grandmother. The change in schedule allowed the time needed to complete the novel she had begun writing in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>When \u201cTrevorode the Defender,\u201d which became \u201cPart I of The Magnolia Arms Chronicles,\u201d was published in March 2013, the indie author realized the story of the Magnolia Arms was not yet complete. Five books followed:\u00a0\u201cRoad to Briarwood\u201d\u00a0(2015),\u00a0\u201cTea at Kimball Pines\u201d\u00a0(2017), and\u00a0\u201cThe Moores, the Merriers\u201d\u00a0(2019), \u201cLawson Payne\u201d (2022), and \u201cAylesbury Dreams\u201d (2024).
