One cyclist was killed and two others were injured after a driver struck them, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on Monday near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, one of the cyclists was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to local hospitals with severe injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to police, a 2006 gold Mercedes\u00a0 E Class struck the cyclists as they rode in the bike lane.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The driver was identified as a 43-year-old woman from Long Beach. She was arrested about half a mile from the scene after she ultimately stopped and was arrested for felony hit and run,\u00a0 gross vehicular manslaughter, and possession of narcotics, police said.<\/p>\n
“The cause of the collision and whether impairment or any other factors played a role
remain under investigation,” the department said.<\/p>\n
