{"id":319702,"date":"2025-10-20T23:05:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T23:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/319702\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T23:05:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T23:05:12","slug":"patrick-mouratoglou-predicts-if-novak-djokovic-will-break-jimmy-connors-record-for-the-most-atp-titles-in-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/319702\/","title":{"rendered":"Patrick Mouratoglou predicts if Novak Djokovic will break Jimmy Connors&#8217; record for the most ATP titles in history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>While he may not have clinched a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam in 2025, Novak Djokovic made history on the ATP Tour this year. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the Geneva Open in May, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/the-symbolic-stat-that-novak-djokovics-wife-has-pointed-out-after-he-beat-hubert-hurkacz-to-win-the-geneva-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Djokovic secured his 100th tour-level crown<\/a>, defeating Hubert Hurkacz in the final of the clay court event. <\/p>\n<p>He became just the third man in history to tally a century of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP<\/a> titles, following longtime rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/roger-federer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roger Federer<\/a> and the all-time leader, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jimmy-connors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jimmy Connors<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Connors became the first man in history to reach the 100 mark, doing so at the 1983 US Open, aged 31. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"691\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-615157932-1024x691.jpg\" alt=\"Jimmy Connors looks on at the 1983 US Open.\" \/>Photo by Focus on Sport\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The American went on to win nine more trophies before retiring, picking up his 109th and final title in Israel during the 1989 season. <\/p>\n<p>His incredible record still stands today, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Djokovic<\/a> the most likely candidate to break it. <\/p>\n<p>Patrick Mouratoglou discusses Jimmy Connor\u2019s ATP titles record<\/p>\n<p>The Serb\u2019s chances are slim in the eyes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/serena-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serena Williams<\/a>\u2018 former coach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Patrick-Mouratoglou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick Mouratoglou<\/a>, however, who does not think he will be the one to surpass Connors\u2019 tally. <\/p>\n<p>In a post on Instagram, Mouratoglou said: \u201cI think the record of Jimmy Connors will be beaten. Actually, two players are not that far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, Roger [Federer] ended his career not so far from it, and Novak [Djokovic] is still playing and is not that far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think that Novak will beat it because he\u2019s focused only on the Grand Slams, which would mean he would have to win six or seven more Grand Slams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to happen, so the record of Jimmy Connors will not be beaten soon, but I think one day it will be beaten.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a lot.
