\n\tAdam Driver<\/a> was not done with the Star Wars<\/a> universe and pitched Lucasfilm<\/a> and Disney a spinoff that would\u2019ve been a direct sequel to 2019\u2019s The Rise of Skywalker.<\/p>\n

\n\tDriver took on the role of Ben Solo for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, playing the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, and the grandson of Anakin Skywalker, best known as Darth Vader.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs you may know, Ben Solo turns into the villain Kylo Ren, who has a redemption arc and apparently dies at the end of The Rise of Skywalker. However, Driver felt his character had unfinished business and thought of an idea for a sequel film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI always was interested in doing another Star Wars,\u201d Driver said in an interview with AP<\/a>. \u201cI had been talking about doing another one since 2021. Kathleen (Kennedy) had reached out. I always said: With a great director and a great story, I\u2019d be there in a second. I loved that character and loved playing him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDriver detailed a concept for the film which Steven Soderbergh<\/a> wrote a script for which the actor says was \u201cone of the coolest (expletive) scripts I had ever been a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it,\u201d Driver said. \u201cWe took it to Bob Iger<\/a> and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn\u2019t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was tentatively titled The Hunt for Ben Solo with Driver adding, \u201cBut it is no more, so I can finally talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement to AP, Soderbergh said, \u201cI really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I\u2019m just sorry the fans won\u2019t get to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Star Wars universe is not short on films with multiple projects in the pipeline. The next film to be released is The Mandalorian and Grogu, a spinoff of the Disney+ series starring Pedro Pascal as Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. The film directed by Jon Favreau is set to release on May 22, 2026.<\/p>\n
