\n\tAfter another weekend of No Kings<\/a> rallies \u2014 with some 7 million in attendance to protest President Donald Trump<\/a> and his administration \u2014 Jon Stewart<\/a> took up the mantle on Monday night\u2019s episode of The Daily Show<\/a> to mock Fox News<\/a>\u2018 dramatic coverage leading up to the event.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd so this weekend we sat in our bunkers, doors locked, windows boarded, muskets and cyanide pills at the ready, prepared for whatever the hardest-core had in store. Do your worst! Display your Marxism to its fullest,\u201d he said, before displaying video clips of attendees dancing in inflatable costumes at the rallies. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cActually, it was kind of an incredible turnout that was somewhat inspiring: 7 million Americans, zero mass shootings!\u201d Stewart said to massive claps from the audience. \u201cThat\u2019s just sad,\u201d he added of the enthusiastic crowd reaction. \u201cNo mass shootings? \u2018My God.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThrowing another jab at the right-wing news network, which maintained its negative coverage after the protests were largely jubilant and peaceful, the host quipped: \u201cMake up your mind, Fox. You complained it would be a terrifyingly shit-your-pants protest. And now you are complaining about how boringly unpants-shitting it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpecifically, Fox News lamented that the gatherings mainly comprised Boomers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cExtra, extra! Read all about it: This country has too many angry old white people, says \u2014 hold on \u2014 Fox News,\u201d Stewart joked. \u201cFox News says, \u2018Why are old white people so angry?\u2019 Fox News mad that there are so many old white people in America. I don\u2019t think Fox News is mad, I think they\u2019re jealous.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tDepicting archival coverage of the Tea Party protests during the Obama era, the political comic then added sarcastically: \u201cImagine a bunch of old white people in costumes angrily protesting the direction and overreach of an ever-encroaching federal government. I mean, preposterous. That\u2019s in no way a movement that could sweep the midterms and then be harnessed by a charismatic demagogue to remake an entire political party. I mean, it\u2019s laughable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCalling the No Kings protests<\/a> \u201cunfocused gatherings\u201d with a significant amount of \u201cpolitical potential,\u201d Stewart likened the day of dissent to \u201ca great day for democracy, and apparently, an even better day for people across this country who always got cast as ensemble in their high school\u2019s musical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart concluded his show by addressing the umbrage the far-right takes with Trump\u2019s characterization as a monarch-like figure: \u201cLook, maybe Trump isn\u2019t an all-powerful king, the kind who can do whatever he wants, but he\u2019s undeniably king-adjacent, king-esque, moving for more. He\u2019s the imitation crab of kings right now. The \u2018I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s not king.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs a result, he noted Republicans are mad at the characterization because they view the GOP leader as more so a \u201cdeity\u201d and Christlike figure, meaning that calling him a \u201cking\u201d is actually a \u201cdemotion.\u201d Stewart then wrapped his monologue with a \u201cJesus or Trump\u201d segment, which featured quotes by either \u201cJesus H. Christ or Donald J. Trump\u201d for the audience to guess accurately. This included scripture about loving one\u2019s enemies versus excerpts from Trump\u2019s infamous Access Hollywood tape, in which he made vulgar comments about pursuing women. <\/p>\n
