{"id":320480,"date":"2025-10-21T06:18:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T06:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/320480\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T06:18:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T06:18:12","slug":"why-adam-driver-says-disney-shot-down-ben-solo-star-wars-sequel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/320480\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Adam Driver Says Disney Shot Down Ben Solo &#8216;Star Wars&#8217; Sequel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/adam-driver\/\" id=\"auto-tag_adam-driver_1\" data-tag=\"adam-driver\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Driver<\/a> has revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/disney-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney-2_1\" data-tag=\"disney-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney<\/a> shot down a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/star-wars-movies-tv-shows-release-order\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/star-wars-movies-tv-shows-release-order\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/star-wars\/\" id=\"auto-tag_star-wars_1\" data-tag=\"star-wars\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Star Wars<\/a> sequel<\/a> centered on Ben Solo, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/lucasfilm\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lucasfilm_1\" data-tag=\"lucasfilm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lucasfilm<\/a> being on board.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Oscar-nominated actor, who played the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa and the grandson of Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader), and later turned into the villain Kylo Ren, recently detailed the sequel idea during an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-id=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/adam-driver-star-wars-soderbergh-jarmusch-4e08164d0419759f1b5b50d69864975d\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/adam-driver-star-wars-soderbergh-jarmusch-4e08164d0419759f1b5b50d69864975d\" target=\"_blank\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI always was interested in doing another Star Wars,\u201d Driver said.\u00a0\u201cI had been talking about doing another one since 2021. Kathleen [Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm] had reached out. I always said: With a great director and a great story, I\u2019d be there in a second. I loved that character and loved playing him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Megalopolis actor said he eventually took his idea to filmmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/steven-soderbergh\/\" id=\"auto-tag_steven-soderbergh_1\" data-tag=\"steven-soderbergh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steven Soderbergh<\/a>, adding that the film would have taken place after 2019\u2019s\u00a0The Rise of Skywalker. (Driver also starred in 2015\u2019s The Force Awakens and 2017\u2019s The Last Jedi.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAfter Soderbergh and Rebecca Blunt outlined a story concept, they tapped Scott Z. Burns\u00a0to write a script, which Driver described as \u201cone of the coolest (expletive) scripts I had ever been a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe House of Gucci star continued, \u201cWe presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile everything seemed to be moving full steam ahead at that point, there were a few more people Driver needed on board for the film, which was tentatively titled\u00a0The Hunt for Ben Solo, to fully come to life. However, things didn\u2019t go to plan once they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620\/https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620\/https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">presented it to Disney execs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn\u2019t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that,\u201d Driver recalled. His character Kylo Ren has a redemption arc across the trilogy and ultimately dies at the end of\u00a0The Rise of Skywalker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHe added that though the sequel idea \u201cwas really cool,\u201d he noted, \u201cIt is no more, so I can finally talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSoderbergh also wrote in a statement to The Associated Press, \u201cI really enjoyed making the movie in my head.
