On the mound, six shutout innings and ten strikeouts. It was only the third longest home run at Dodger Stadium in the modern era.<\/p>\n<p>Carlo Mendoza, a lifelong Dodgers fan from East Hollywood, was mid-bite into a helmet of nachos in the centerfield plaza when he saw it happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I was taking a bite of my nachos, I saw Ohtani hit his second homer,\u201d Mendoza told NBC LA. \u201cThen I see a guy in front of me look up \u2014 and I think, \u2018no way the ball comes out here.\u2019 Next thing I know, it bounces off the roof and into the bushes.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is the bush in the centerfield plaza of Dodger Stadium where Shohei Ohtani\u2019s second home run landed. 3rd longest homer in Chavez Ravine history. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pgUAZ68V6Q\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/pgUAZ68V6Q<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael J. But for Mendoza, the ball\u2019s worth isn\u2019t just monetary. \u201cAs the son of immigrant parents, I want to sell it to help retire them. Duarte)<\/p>\n<p>Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy couldn\u2019t believe what he saw either. \u201cThey said it went 469 feet,\u201d Muncy said, shaking his head. \u201cThat\u2019s wrong. That ball was at least 500 feet. That\u2019s the farthest ball I\u2019ve ever seen hit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers plan to commemorate that home run with a plaque beyond center field before Game 3 of the World Series \u2014 a permanent reminder of the night Ohtani defied physics.<\/p>\n<p>Then came the third act \u2014 and with it, completion. In the bottom of the seventh, Ohtani\u2019s final homer sailed 427 feet to left-center, sealing what may go down as the greatest single-game postseason performance in baseball history.<\/p>\n<p>David Flores, who caught that third ball, said the moment felt surreal. \u201cIt\u2019s life-changing,\u201d Flores said. \u201cRight when I caught it, people were offering me money \u2014 one guy even offered $5,000 cash on the spot. But I decided to hold on to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Experts at SPC Auctions \u2014 the same firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/freddie-freemans-world-series-grand-slam-ball-sells-for-over-1-million-in-auction\/3583012\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/freddie-freemans-world-series-grand-slam-ball-sells-for-over-1-million-in-auction\/3583012\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that sold Freddie Freeman\u2019s walk-off grand slam ball from Game 1 of the 2024 World Series<\/a> \u2014 estimate Ohtani\u2019s Game 4 home run balls could fetch between $3 and $5 million each.<\/p>\n<p>Three fans. Three stories. Three souvenirs of an immortal night in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>For Ohtani, it was a night that stitched his name even deeper into baseball\u2019s fabric.
