The woman accused of stabbing a sushi chef in a shocking daylight attack<\/a> in Melbourne\u2019s<\/a> CBD has dropped her bid for bail.<\/p>\n

Lauren Darul, 32, appeared via video link before Melbourne Magistrates\u2019 Court<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon after being arrested on October 2 over the alleged stabbing of 36-year-old Wan Lai.<\/p>\n

Darul was on bail at the time of the random attack and has since been hit with more charges, bringing the total to 17, the court heard.<\/p>\n

Her defence lawyer, Ashlee McPhail, told the court the bail application had been withdrawn.<\/p>\n

Darul had been living at Make Room, a supportive housing project jointly funded by the Victorian government and the City of Melbourne.<\/p>\n

She was reported missing from the facility and had failed to attend a scheduled appointment for her medication and mental health treatment.<\/p>\n

Darul is due to return to court on November 25.<\/p>\n

Lai\u2019s family<\/a> told 7NEWS that she is recovering slowly but slammed the state\u2019s victim support system.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lai was walking to work on Little Bourke St on the morning of October 2 when she was allegedly stabbed by Darul.<\/p>\n

CCTV footage captured the horrific moment<\/a>, showing Darul running up behind Lai, wielding a knife and locking eyes with her before allegedly stabbing her in the right side of her chest.<\/p>\n

Lai remained in hospital for three days and has since moved residence following the incident.<\/p>\n
