PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — “Million Dollar Quartet” shines a spotlight on four major figures in rock and roll: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.<\/p>\n
The show is based on a real-life jam session between the four in December of 1956 at Sun Records, with its legendary owner, Sam Phillips.<\/p>\n
Along with the five men, the show includes one woman named Dyanne. She is a fictional character based on Elvis’s real-life girlfriend at the time who was there that night and sang along with the quartet.<\/p>\n
The musical weaves together drama, humor and a whole lot of music-from Blue Suede Shoes to Hound Dog, Great Balls of Fire, I Walk the Line and Peace in the Valley.<\/p>\n
Kathryn Brunner, who plays Dyanne, says the musical showcases the competition among the four musical icons but also the respect they had for each other.<\/p>\n
Matteo Scammel, who plays Elvis, describes the show as a blast and says it’s some of the most fun he’s ever had on stage.<\/p>\n
Both say they hope audiences appreciate the historic significance of that night in 1956 while also jumping out of their seats for a joyful dance party.<\/p>\n
