NYC mayoral candidates face off in heated mayoral debate<\/p>\n

Independent Andrew Cuomo, Democrat Zohran Mamdani, and Republican Curtis Sliwa clash in first NYC mayoral debate, trading sharp attacks.<\/p>\n

In two weeks, New York City will elect its new mayor.<\/p>\n

Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, Independent Andrew Cuomo, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa are vying for the city’s mayoral seat.<\/p>\n

Before the general elections on Nov. 4, the candidates will face each other in a second debate which promises to be as fiery as the first one. In the days leading up to the debate, the discourse on social media and news programs has been loaded.<\/p>\n

“What is your problem with condemning terrorism? It is the easiest thing to condemn,” Cuomo said referencing a picture of Mamdani and imam Siraj Wahhaj.<\/p>\n

“Mr. Wahaj was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing,” Cuomo said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mandani responded that “The same imam met with Mayor Bloomberg, met with Mayor de Blasio, campaigned alongside Eric Adams, and the only time it became an issue of national attention was when I met with him. And that’s because of the fact of my faith and because I’m on the precipice of winning this election,” Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

Sliwa, who has been very active on social media posting much more than his opponents said that Zohran Mamdani’s “only answer to everything is affordability, affordability, affordability. Andrew Cuomo, he just doesn’t understand he’s no longer relevant,” Sliwa told CBS News.<\/p>\n

When is the second NYC mayoral election debate? How to watch?<\/p>\n

Former New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo is running as an Independent after losing the Democratic primary to State Asseblyman Zohran Mamdani. Activist and radio host Curtis Sliwa ran unopposed in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n

The second NYC mayoral election is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

It can be watched live on Spectrum News NY1, either on its broadcast channel or online via its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Errol Louis, Brian Lehrer and Katie Honan will moderate the debate.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
