<\/p>\nJACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A project bringing traffic pattern changes to some Downtown Jacksonville roads is nearing completion.<\/p>\n
Beginning Wednesday morning, drivers can expect two-way travel on Adams Street and Forsyth Street, between Jefferson and Liberty streets.<\/p>\n

Workers began putting the finishing touches on Phase 1 of the project at 6 P.M. Tuesday, removing the burlap bags that have covered the new traffic lights.<\/p>\n
[DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n All lanes are expected to be open by 6 am Wednesday.<\/p>\n Then Phase 2 will get underway, involving sidewalk widening and tree planting along the roadway.<\/p>\n The City of Jacksonville says the change will encourage economic growth and boost property values. Mayor Donna Deegan will be Downtown Wednesday morning to celebrate and discuss the completion of the project. <\/p>\n Still, the sudden shift in traffic pattern has nearby workers and commuters worried.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is certainly going to be a learning period for people. I see a lot more accidents because people aren\u2019t going to know whether to turn right or left on any given intersection,\u201d said Mike Yokan, an attorney who works nearby. \u201cI think the word that is going to sum it up is confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n The project manager for the main contractor on the project says those concerns are valid. She encourages drivers to take extra caution during the transition.<\/p>\n \u201cDrive slow, pay attention to the lights in some of our new areas,\u201d said Rachel Lewis. \u201cPay attention to the signs, all of the pavement markings, and the biggest thing is just slow down and take your time.\u201d<\/p>\n
