Some pups practically jump with excitement the moment they see their leash, while others turn the experience into a playful battle of wills. For one dog owner and her mischievous Golden Retriever, Bear, that playful standoff has become a daily ritual, and a hilarious video of it has everyone online grinning.

Video captures Golden Retriever’s ‘daily standoff’ with owner and leash

Bear has made quite an impression on Instagram after his owner posted a video showing their daily “standoff.” The clip begins with Bear’s mom approaching him slowly with a leash in her hand. Instead of greeting her with enthusiasm, Bear freezes in place and locks his eyes on her every move. It’s as if he’s assessing her strategy, preparing for what’s to come.

As she inches closer, Bear’s tail begins to wag; first slowly and cautiously, then faster and faster, signaling his excitement and mischief brewing. Just as she gets within arm’s reach, Bear bolts right past her with comedic timing. His mom can’t help but laugh, calling the whole scene a familiar experience for “dog moms” everywhere. Her caption reads, “Dog moms will get it,” and judging by the flood of comments, she was absolutely right.

One viewer noted, “Love how his tail gets faster as she gets closer lol.” Another said, “That is so golden behavior!” Someone else broke down the moment accurately: “The stare. Then the tail breaks form. Then you are done for.” One fan even turned the scene into a mock duel, writing, “You know when to draw your weapon when that tail starts wagging then you got the drop on ’em. Tail is a dead giveaway in a duel.”

While Bear’s game is harmless fun, putting on a leash the right way is important for every dog’s safety. Experts recommend letting dogs sniff and get comfortable with the leash before clipping it on. Always ensure the collar or harness fits snugly but not too tight. As such, you should be able to slip two fingers between it and your dog’s neck. Moreover, rewarding your pup with treats or praise can help them associate the leash with something positive.

[8
37512,1165,69437,159,67,132,68
0":"post-321755","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-science","8":"tag-golden-retriever","9":"tag-lifestyle","10":"tag-lifestyle-news","11":"tag-science","12":"tag-united-states","13":"tag-unitedstates","14":"tag-us
["GET
