PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A man is dead after he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a busy Phoenix roadway on Monday night.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been identified as 49-year-old Chad Bratcher.<\/p>\n

Phoenix police and fire crews responded to a crash on McDowell Road near 51st Avenue<\/a> just before 7:30 p.m. and found Bratcher with critical injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died a short time later.<\/p>\n

The driver of the pick-up truck remained on scene, as detectives from Phoenix PD\u2019s Vehicular Crimes Unit responded. Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe Bratcher was crossing McDowell Road mid-block and not near a crosswalk when he was struck by the truck that was heading westbound.<\/p>\n

Phoenix police say the crash remains under investigation, but detectives do not believe impairment was a factor.<\/p>\n
