{"id":322326,"date":"2025-10-21T23:07:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T23:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/322326\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T23:07:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T23:07:10","slug":"helium-summit-chinese-helium-market-grows-double-digits-margins-under-pressure-helium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/322326\/","title":{"rendered":"Helium Summit: Chinese helium market grows double-digits, margins under pressure | Helium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China\u2019s helium consumption is growing at a double-digit pace, but industrial gas suppliers are facing revenue and margin pressures due to increased volumes of lower cost imported product.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEven with double-digit volume growth, revenue and margins for industrial gas players are shrinking,\u201d said Tom Deng, President of G-gas, speaking at <strong>gas<\/strong>world\u2019s Helium Super Summit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China imports around 85% of its helium, with a large percentage coming from Russia. \u201cRussian helium, thanks to its aggressive low-price strategy over the past two years, now makes up 40% of our imports,\u201d Deng noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to Western trade sanctions, Russian helium has become more accessible to second-tier gas companies in Asia at below-market prices. That wasn\u2019t the original intention of the sanctions, but it\u2019s become an unintended consequence, one that\u2019s reshaping helium trade flows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This shift has several knock-on effects. US and EU industrial gas majors have lost ground in key growth markets such as China and India, where low-cost Russian helium undercuts competitors and creates pricing pressure across the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Deng believes this trend may be nearing its peak. \u201cWe don\u2019t think further price cuts will help Russian helium gain more market share,\u201d he said, adding that import growth from Russia has already started to slow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, China is ramping up efforts to develop domestic helium sources, including LNG-based recovery projects in select provinces. While still limited in scale, these local initiatives are helping to supplement certain segments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis local supply is starting to play a balancing role, supplementing certain market segments right now; the market gives us a strategic window to consolidate and restore some discipline,\u201d Deng said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking ahead, China\u2019s national policy emphasis on advanced manufacturing, AI, quantum computing, and aerospace is expected to keep helium demand elevated.
