Limp Bizkit co-founder Sam Rivers reportedly died on Saturday<\/a> while under medical care at his home in Florida for an unspecified illness.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old nu metal bassist, who previously spoke about having undergone a liver transplant, was initially reported as a \u201cnonresponsive person in cardiac arrest,\u201d<\/a> a spokesperson for the St. Johns County Fire Rescue told TMZ on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeputies responded to an attended death at that address,\u201d authorities confirmed to the outlet. An attended death, similar to someone being in hospice care, means the deceased had been receiving care for a likely life-threatening condition.<\/p>\n

Despite how the Jacksonville native\u2019s death was reported, an exact cause of death remains unclear<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Limp Bizkit on Saturday paid tribute to \u201cthe one and only Sam Rivers,\u201d<\/a> announcing on Instagram that they\u2019d \u201clost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSam Rivers wasn\u2019t just our bass player \u2014 he was pure magic,\u201d read a statement from founding frontman Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, drummer John Otto and turntablist DJ Lethal. \u201c[He was] the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rivers temporarily left Limp Bizkit in 2015 due to liver disease that stemmed from \u201cexcessive drinking,\u201d<\/a> as he explained in Jon Wiederhorn\u2019s 2020 book, \u201cRaising Hell: Backstage Tales from the Lives of Metal Legends.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Rivers rejoined the band in 2018 after undergoing a liver transplant, and stayed with the group until his death. His last live performance<\/a>\u00a0was at the Leeds Festival in England on Aug. 24.<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday afternoon, Limp Bizkit was still slated to embark on their Central and South American \u201cGringo Papi\u201d tour<\/a>, kicking off Nov. 29 in Mexico City. The seven-date, seven-country tour is scheduled to end Dec. 20 in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil.<\/p>\n
