{"id":322610,"date":"2025-10-22T01:37:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T01:37:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/322610\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T01:37:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T01:37:16","slug":"all-points-broadband-deadline-pushed-again-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/322610\/","title":{"rendered":"All Points Broadband Deadline Pushed Again | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deadline to connect Loudoun residents to high-speed fiber through All Points Broadband has been pushed back again, with project managers now expecting to finalize connections in the county\u00a0in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The $61 million project\u2014funded by federal and state grants, Dominion Energy and internet provider All Points Broadband\u2014envisions the construction of 620 miles of fiber, with 176 miles to be attached to utility poles.<\/p>\n<p>Originally planned to be\u00a0completed in\u00a02024, the project is now estimated to be finished\u00a0nextJune.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All Points Vice President of Business Development Tom Innes said progress is being made and now 20 residents have been\u00a0connected, with\u00a0Dominion completing\u00a0its\u00a0portion of\u00a0theconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow the focus is on last mile construction, and that is conducted by\u00a0All\u00a0Points\u00a0Broadband and their contractors,\u201d Assistant Director of Information Technology Dave Friedrich told the Board of Supervisors\u00a0on\u00a0Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The work in Loudoun has been broken down into five sections. The focus so far as been in section two, northwest Loudoun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey&#8217;ve completed nearly 15% of the\u00a0last\u00a0mile construction in that area, and have another 25%\u00a0on the way today,\u201d Friedrich\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When completed focus will move to southwest Loudoun and then move east.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The challenge now lies with permitting through the Virginia Department of Transportation,which must be received for any rights-of-way owned by the state agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re working closely with\u00a0VDOT\u00a0ensure that they are handling them as quickly and expeditiously as possible. We meet with them\u00a0on a monthly basis\u00a0to discuss solely this project, and we have their leadership engaged as well. All Points has begun installation in Loudoun 2 and will move to Loudoun 3 next.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                                    Loudoun County <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a financial perspective, the critical date is Dec.\u00a031 of 2026.\u00a0So funding,\u00a0both ARPA dollars from the county, ARPA dollars from the state, all need to be spent by the end of 2026.Right\u00a0now\u00a0the project remains on schedule\u00a0to\u00a0that timeframe,\u201d Friedrich said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So far, $28 million has been spent, according to Innes, with $2 million coming from the county.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than 8,000 Loudoun residents are expected to eventually connect to the service, although that will likely take years, Innes said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 18 to 20% of those who could sign up have signed up, and we&#8217;re working through the installation process within.\u00a0That is our target, about 20%.
