JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville City Council\u2019s Duval DOGE committee officially tasked the Jacksonville Transportation Authority with answering some tough questions on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
Last week, Action News Jax first broke the news with a list of more than a dozen questions submitted by City Councilman and committee member Rory Diamond.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n On Tuesday, a JTA representative was at the podium to promise answers.<\/p>\n They will specifically answer tough questions about the Ultimate Urban Circulator, the expansion of JTA\u2019s autonomous vehicles project that would eventually remodel the Skyway.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n That portion hasn\u2019t had a set scope, price tag, or timeline, even though Duval drivers are already funding it with a local option gas tax.<\/p>\n Action News Jax has been investigating the embattled project for more than a year, and on Tuesday, three DOGE committee members raised their concerns regarding the value of the project.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, the math isn\u2019t mathing,\u201d Diamond said. <\/p>\n [SIGN UP: <\/b>Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/b><\/a>] <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cThe LOGT, local option gas tax, right, you know? How much discretion do we have?\u201d Jacksonville City Councilman and DOGE committee member Jimmy Peluso asked.<\/p>\n JTA promised to have answers ahead of the next Duval DOGE meeting.
