{"id":323677,"date":"2025-10-22T11:21:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T11:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/323677\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T11:21:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T11:21:09","slug":"comcast-keeps-philly-operations-amid-job-cuts-and-restructuring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/323677\/","title":{"rendered":"Comcast keeps Philly operations amid job cuts and restructuring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Comcast moves forward with restructuring plans in other regions, the company is doubling down on its Philly headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the telecommunications giant revealed plans to get rid of its division structure, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lightreading.com\/cable-technology\/layoffs-likely-as-comcast-eliminates-divisions-and-centralizes-more-operations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three regional sections<\/a> that run its connectivity and platforms unit. Offices outside of its <a href=\"https:\/\/technical.ly\/startups\/comcast-technology-center-opening\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia headquarters<\/a> now report to the president of regional operations, a new role that will be filled by Amy Lynch, who is currently president of the northeast division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to Philadelphia being the corporate HQ, this area is part of one of the regions that will continue to operate once the division structure is retired,\u201d Jen Gatta, associate VP of corporate communication for Comcast, told Technical.ly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The central division \u2014 which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Wisconsin \u2014 based in Atlanta, will cease operations in 2026, resulting in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcsg.edu\/warn-public-view\/entry\/78621\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">240 layoffs<\/a>. The layoffs impact employees in a range of departments, including product sales, finance and public relations, according to the WARN notice.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s west division \u2014 made up of California, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming and Montana \u2014 based in Centennial, Colorado, will also shut down in 2026. <a href=\"https:\/\/cdle.colorado.gov\/employers\/layoff-separations\/layoff-warn-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">302 employees wll be laid off<\/a> in a variety of departments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Laid-off employees will be considered for other positions at the company, according to the WARN notices. Employees who don\u2019t find another role within Comcast will receive <a href=\"https:\/\/technical.ly\/startups\/how-to-lay-people-off\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">severance benefits<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Philly takes the cross-regional lead<\/p>\n<p>Restructuring plans will impact the company\u2019s connectivity and platforms unit, which houses Xfinity, Comcast Business and Sky. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/world-at-work\/comcast-plans-cut-jobs-its-biggest-unit-housing-broadband-pay-tv-centralize-2025-09-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The old structure<\/a> had regional teams report to division leads, who report to the company\u2019s headquarters, according to Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities of the division teams will shift to employees at Comcast\u2019s corporate headquarters, according to a memo the company sent out in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this change, our HQ teams will design strategy, while our field teams will execute,\u201d read the memo. \u201cThis model will enable faster decision-making, better use of data and technology, and stronger execution in a highly competitive environment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These changes are happening at the same time as the company announced a major leadership change. At the end of September, <a href=\"https:\/\/technical.ly\/company\/comcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comcast<\/a> named Michael Cavanaugh, currently president of the company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20250929482192\/en\/Comcast-Corporations-Mike-Cavanagh-to-Join-Brian-Roberts-as-Co-Chief-Executive-Officer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">co-CEO<\/a>, effective in January.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cavanaugh will lead with <a href=\"https:\/\/technical.ly\/startups\/comcast-execs-get-raise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Roberts<\/a>, who has been CEO since 2002.
