Dro Fernandez made his Champions League debut on Tuesday night and picked up an assist as Barcelona cruised past Olympiacos at Montjuic.<\/p>\n
The 17-year-old – known as Dro – spoke to the media after the game and was asked for the story behind his nickname.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople think there\u2019s some special meaning behind it, but it\u2019s actually simple. When I was a baby, my older brother couldn\u2019t pronounce \u2018Pedro\u2019 so he called me \u201cDro.\u201d The name just stuck, especially since there were three players named Pedro when I joined Bar\u00e7a \u2014 it helped tell us apart. And honestly, I\u2019ve grown to really like it,\u201d he said with a smile.<\/p>\n
Dro also spoke about how thrilled he was to play in the Champions League and is now targeting more minutes in El Clasico on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a special day for me, one that I\u2019ll never forget. I\u2019ve always dreamed of playing in matches like this, and I\u2019m really happy about it.
