Christina Applegate<\/a> is pulling back the curtain on her life beyond Hollywood in her upcoming tell-all book.<\/p>\n The Dead to Me star, 53, is set to release her first-ever memoir titled You with the Sad Eyes: A Memoir<\/a> next year and gave PEOPLE an exclusive first look at the book\u2019s cover.\n<\/p>\n The memoir will delve into Applegate\u2019s “tumultuous” life prior to stardom in the \u201clegendary Laurel Canyon scene of the 1970s and 80s\u201d and follow her through her rise to fame as Kelly Bundy in the sitcom Married… with Children<\/a> and her various film roles after that including, Don\u2019t Tell Mom the Babysitter\u2019s Dead<\/a>, The Sweetest Thing, Anchorman<\/a> and Bad Moms, according to the book’s official synopsis.\n<\/p>\n ‘You with the Sad Eyes: A Memoir’ by Christina Applegate.<\/p>\n Little, Brown and Company<\/p>\n The book also offers Applegate\u2019s \u201cfull story of her years in the public eye\u201d \u2014 told with the actress\u2019 \u201craw and darkly funny\u201d humor \u2014 and shows her legacy as a \u201cchildhood star turned iconic comedic actress” and most notably her journey to being a \u201csurvivor.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n In the memoir, Applegate opens up about \u201cpainful moments the public didn’t see \u2014 abuse, abandonment, insecurities, self-doubt, body dysmorphia, assault,\u201d the synopsis adds.<\/p>\n \u201cI wrote this because I truly believe that books can make people feel less alone. I promise, You with the Sad Eyes<\/a> won’t be some big violin scratching for my life. But it will be real,\u201d Applegate says in a statement.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be filled with the ups and downs, the humor and grief of life. So here I am. Real me. Lots to say,\u201d she added.\n<\/p>\n The Emmy award winner, who revealed her multi-scoliosis (MS) diagnosis<\/a> in 2021, explained that she wrote this book when she \u201cwas forced to slow down\u201d following the diagnosis. She said that although she loved having a career in TV and film, with MS, \u201call the things I thought were important shifted.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cFor a long time, it felt impossible to find the meaning in everything I\u2019ve been through, but for the first time in my life, I\u2019ve been able to stop and reflect. I\u2019ve packed a lot into these 50-something years. It\u2019s scary \u2014 not gonna lie \u2014 to finally decide to tell it all,\u201d she explained.\n<\/p>\n
