He is best known for writing, producing and directing such films as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Buller\u2019s Day Off, Planes, Trains &amp; Automobiles and Uncle Buck. He also wrote such classics as National Lampoon\u2019s Vacation, Some Kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink and Home Alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSmith\u2019s projects include the Emmy-nominated documentaries Jim &amp; Andy, Tiger King and 100 Foot Wave. His first documentary American Movie won the Grand Jury prize at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. Other projects include Operation Varsity Blues and the series Bad Vegan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTurner is an Emmy-winning producer whose recent credits include the Emmy-nominated Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, BS High, Sneaker Wars: Adidas v Puma, Merchants of Joy and Stephen Chbosky\u2019s Emmy-nominated Nonnas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHughes III is an experienced producer and former record label owner. He is a co-founder of Blue Cuckoo Pictures, a documentary film production company based in London and Chicago.
