A man was in custody in Los Angeles County after being arrested for attacking a young girl in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department exclusively told NBC Los Angeles Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The investigation began when deputies responded to the area of Hayvenhurst Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard at around 5 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Two girls, including a minor under the age of 14, told the deputies that a man whom they did not know attacked one of them.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s department located the man, 42-year-old Elmer Mercado, and booked him for annoying and molesting a minor as well as lewd\/lascivious acts with a child under 14.<\/p>\n
Mercado, who was previously arrested for a lewd act, touched one of the girls inappropriately, law enforcement sources told NBC Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
Mercado\u2019s at least one prior arrest was pleaded down to a lesser crime, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
