{"id":324865,"date":"2025-10-22T21:57:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T21:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/324865\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T21:57:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T21:57:12","slug":"parts-of-nsw-and-victoria-absolutely-battered-by-howling-winds-storm-damage-in-greater-sydney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/324865\/","title":{"rendered":"Parts of NSW and Victoria &#8216;absolutely battered&#8217; by howling winds, storm damage in Greater Sydney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Howling winds overnight will lead to extensive clean-up work today in NSW&#8217;s south-east and parts of Victoria, with October heat records also broken in Western Sydney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Intelligence and warnings officer at the NSW State Emergency Service, Adam Williams, said damaging winds had led to a large amount of fallen trees, branches and roof damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Since midday Wednesday over 250 calls were made for assistance regarding storm damage in NSW, particularly in the Greater Sydney area, with Sutherland, Hornsby and Parramatta the busiest SES units.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"EmphasisedText_quote__TE6kn\"><p>&#8220;Conditions have now eased with the severe weather warning now cancelled, but SES volunteers are out today to clean up their communities,&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  Mr Williams said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;If you see any downed powerlines stay well clear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Senior meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, Angus Hines, told ABC News Breakfast that parts of the country were &#8220;absolutely battered&#8221; by &#8220;howling winds&#8221;, particularly Victoria&#8217;s mountains, Warrnambool and Melbourne&#8217;s CBD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A gale wind warning remains in place along the Eden coast, as does a strong wind warning for the Byron, Coffs, Illawarra and Batemans coasts on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"People at beach\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/23936965019e025acc166d912b81b6b6\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Wind warnings remain for some coastal areas of NSW on Thursday.
